ALR Alerts Report
Executive Summary
The ALR Alerts report provides a comprehensive overview of all defined alerts in the Oracle Alert module. This report is an essential tool for system administrators and functional consultants to manage, review, and audit the alerts that have been configured in the system. It offers a centralized view of alert definitions, conditions, and actions, which is critical for maintaining a proactive and well-monitored Oracle E-Business Suite environment.
Business Challenge
Oracle Alert is a powerful tool for monitoring business events and sending notifications, but managing a large number of alerts can be challenging. Without a clear and consolidated report, organizations may face:
- Lack of Visibility: Difficulty in getting a complete picture of all the alerts that are active in the system, leading to a reactive approach to problem-solving.
- Inconsistent Alert Definitions: A lack of standardization in alert definitions, making it difficult to maintain and troubleshoot alerts.
- Audit and Compliance Issues: Difficulty in providing auditors with a clear record of the alerts that are in place to monitor critical business processes.
- Time-Consuming Manual Reviews: Spending a significant amount of time manually reviewing alert definitions in the Oracle Forms interface, which is inefficient and prone to errors.
The Solution
The ALR Alerts report provides a comprehensive and easy-to-read overview of all alert definitions in the system. This report helps to:
- Improve Visibility: Get a complete and detailed view of all configured alerts in a single report.
- Standardize Alert Definitions: Easily identify inconsistencies in alert definitions and take corrective action to ensure that all alerts are configured correctly.
- Simplify Audits: Provide auditors with a clear and concise record of all the alerts that are in place to monitor critical business processes.
- Increase Efficiency: Reduce the time it takes to review and manage alert definitions by providing a consolidated and easy-to-read report.
Technical Architecture (High Level)
The report is based on a query of the core Oracle Alert tables. The primary tables used are:
- alr_alerts: This table stores the main definition for each alert, including the alert name, condition, and frequency.
- fnd_application_vl: This table is used to retrieve the name of the application that each alert is associated with.
- alr_actions_v: This view provides information about the actions that are associated with each alert, such as sending an email or running a concurrent program.
The report joins these tables to provide a complete and detailed view of each alert definition.
Parameters & Filtering
The report includes several parameters that allow you to filter the results and focus on the information that is most important to you. The key parameters are:
- Alert Name like: This parameter allows you to search for alerts with a specific name or a partial name.
- Condition Type: This parameter allows you to filter the report by the type of condition that the alert is based on (e.g., SQL statement, event).
- Creation Date From: This parameter allows you to filter the report to show only alerts that were created after a specific date.
- Show Action Columns: This parameter allows you to include or exclude the columns that show the actions associated with each alert.
Performance & Optimization
The ALR Alerts report is designed to be efficient and fast. It uses direct table access to retrieve the data, which is much faster than relying on intermediate views or APIs. The report is also designed to minimize the use of complex joins and subqueries, which helps to ensure that it runs quickly and efficiently.
FAQ
Q: Can I use this report to see the SQL statement that is used in an alert? A: Yes, the report includes the full SQL statement for each alert that is based on a SQL statement condition.
Q: Can I see the actions that are associated with each alert? A: Yes, the “Show Action Columns” parameter allows you to include a detailed breakdown of the actions that are associated with each alert, such as the email recipients or the concurrent program that is run.
Q: Can I use this report to identify alerts that are not running correctly? A: While this report does not provide real-time status information, it can help you to identify alerts that are not configured correctly. Oracle E-Business Suite Reporting Library
We provide an open source Oracle EBS SQLs as a part of operational and project implementation support toolkits for rapid Excel reports generation.
Blitz Report™ is based on Oracle EBS forms technology, and hence requires minimal training. There are no data or performance limitations since the output files are created directly from the database without going through intermediate file formats such as XML.
Blitz Report can be used as BI Publisher and Oracle Discoverer replacement tool. Standard Oracle BI Publisher and Discoverer reports can also be imported into Blitz Report for immediate output to Excel. Typically, reports can be created and version tracked within hours instead of days. The concurrent request output automatically opens upon completion without the need for re-formatting.
The Filters, Columns, Rows and Values fields are used to create and deliver the data in pivot table format with full drill down to details.

The Excel template upload functionality in Blitz Report allows users to create their own layouts by uploading an Excel template with additional sheets and charts, automatically refreshed when the report runs again. This allows to create custom dashboards and more advanced visualizations of report data.

You can download and use Blitz Report free of charge for your first 30 reports.
The installation and implementation process usually takes less than 1 hour; you can refer to our installation and user guides for specific details.
